Terms of Service
Last updated: 25 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Ruslan Rustemov, a sole proprietor registered in the Slovak Republic under business ID (IČO) 54844274, A. Hlinku 63/109, 921 01 Piešťany, Slovakia ("Mungo", "we", "us") about the Mungo app and mungoapp.com. By downloading or using Mungo, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data. If you don't agree, please don't use Mungo.
1. Who can use Mungo
You must be at least 18 years old. Mungo is available to people who live in the United States or in Canada, except Québec, where it isn't offered yet. Mungo is for personal, non-commercial use.
2. What Mungo does, and what it doesn't
Mungo plans your dinners, builds a grocery list with estimated prices for the store you choose, and reads your receipts to compare what you spent with your usual week.
Mungo is a planning tool. It isn't a bank, a financial adviser, a dietitian or a medical service. Mungo isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any grocery retailer. Store names belong to their owners and are used only to describe where you shop.
3. Your first week and subscriptions
Your first week. You can plan, shop and measure your first week without a subscription and without entering payment details. To plan more weeks, you need a subscription. Nothing is charged unless you choose a plan.
Plans and prices. Mungo offers weekly and annual subscriptions. The price is shown in the app, in your local currency, before you buy.
Payment and renewal. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period at the current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. If the price changes, Apple will tell you in advance and, where required, ask for your agreement.
Cancelling. You can cancel or switch plans at any time in your Apple Account settings. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app or your Mungo data doesn't cancel your subscription.
Refunds. Apple handles all payments and refunds under its own policies. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds for App Store purchases ourselves.
When a subscription ends. Your past plans, receipts and jar stay in the app. You can still add a receipt for a week you planned before it ended. Planning new weeks needs an active subscription.
4. Using Mungo with or without an account
You don't need an account. Without one, your data is tied to your device, and it can be lost if you delete the app or lose your device. Signing in with Apple keeps your data when you change devices. Keep your Apple Account secure, because anyone using it can use your Mungo account.
5. Prices, results and what "saved" means
Prices are estimates. Prices in Mungo are based on public price data, prices we've observed at retailers and our own models, adjusted for the store you choose. What you pay can differ with location, date, brand, package size, sales and loyalty prices. Taxes, deposits and fees may not be included.
Projections are labeled. Before you shop, Mungo shows what a plan could save as a projection, not as a result.
What "saved" means. When Mungo says you saved an amount, it compares the usual weekly spend you told us with what your confirmed receipt shows for that week, as Mungo counts it. It's a comparison you can check, based on numbers you give and confirm. It doesn't claim that Mungo caused the whole difference.
The jar isn't money. The jar is a record of your results. It holds no funds and can't be withdrawn, transferred or exchanged.
We don't promise any particular saving.
6. Food, allergies and safety
- Mungo filters recipes using ingredient information. Packaged products vary by brand and can contain allergens or traces of them. Always read labels and watch for cross-contact. If you have a severe allergy, don't rely on Mungo alone.
- Mungo doesn't give medical or nutrition advice. If you follow a diet for medical reasons, talk to a doctor or dietitian.
- Cooking times and temperatures are guides. Cook meat, poultry, fish and eggs thoroughly, follow basic food-safety practice, and take care with knives, heat and appliances.
- You decide what you buy, cook and eat, and you're responsible for those choices.
7. Receipts and your content
- Only scan receipts for your own household's shopping.
- Receipts are read automatically and can be read wrong. Check and correct the result before you confirm it.
- What you add to Mungo stays yours. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use it to run and improve Mungo, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may keep and use information from receipts that doesn't identify you, such as an item's price at a store on a given day, to improve our price estimates.
8. Fair use
Don't:
- copy, scrape, sell or redistribute Mungo's recipes, images, prices or other content
- reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it
- interfere with Mungo or try to access other people's data
- use bots or automated tools with Mungo
- submit fake or altered receipts
- use Mungo to build a competing product, or for anything unlawful
9. Our content
The Mungo app, its recipes, photos, text, design and price data belong to us or the people we license them from. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, under these terms and Apple's Usage Rules. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.
10. Changes and ending
- We keep improving Mungo and may change, add or remove features. If a change significantly reduces what you've paid for, we'll tell you in advance.
- Mungo may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
- You can stop using Mungo at any time and delete your data in the app.
- We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if the law requires it. If we shut Mungo down, we'll give you notice.
11. Our responsibility
- Mungo is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, including that Mungo will always be available or error-free, or that prices and results will be exact.
- To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, savings or data. Our total liability is limited to what you paid for Mungo in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50 if that is more.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for intentional or grossly negligent conduct. Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under consumer protection laws that apply to you.
12. Law and disputes
If something goes wrong, contact us first at support@mungoapp.com. We'll try to resolve it within 30 days.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic. You keep the protection of any mandatory consumer laws where you live. Disputes go to the courts of the Slovak Republic, unless the law where you live lets you bring them in your local courts.
13. Apple App Store terms
If you downloaded Mungo from Apple's App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for Mungo and its content.
- Your license to use Mungo is limited to Apple-branded products you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for Mungo.
- If Mungo fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you can notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Mungo. Any other claims, losses or costs caused by such a failure are our responsibility.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for handling claims relating to Mungo or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that Mungo fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If someone claims that Mungo or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and resolving that claim.
- You confirm that you aren't located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you aren't on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use Mungo, such as your mobile carrier's terms.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce them against you.
14. General
If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer these terms to a company that takes over Mungo; your rights stay the same. You may not transfer them to anyone else.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms and will show the date at the top. If we make an important change, we'll tell you in the app before it applies. If you keep using Mungo after that, the updated terms apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using Mungo and cancel your subscription.
